- Origins - Descendants of the two ancient species of Dragons and Elves, the Drakim (pronounced druh-kee-hm) take the humanoid appearance of the elves, mixing it with the draconic horns, tail, and for some even the wings of the dragons. Due to being the direct children of both species, they are gifted in a number of ways that even their contemporary species aren't. This has led to many of said contemporaries either revering them or envying them, with no in-between.
- Traits - Members of the Drakim are divided among three types, corresponding with the type of dragon their parent was: Drake, Wyverns, or Wyrms. Each subrace has a different unique characteristic, but share most of theirs amongst each other. It should be noted that some may hold other characteristics from one subrace despite being a different one primarily. These individuals are referred to as Hybrims within the many Drakim communities.
Drakes
Associated with the land, those of Drake descent often hold bulky, muscular builds with height matching the average of humans. Their horns are their most standout feature, being quite large-- in fact, theirs are the largest between the three-- and incredibly sturdy. It is rumored that only the strongest of the strong could ever make their horns crack, much less break, and that those who accomplish this may be gods among men. Their tails are of average length, and similarly average girth. Even so, a careless swipe could still do meaningful damage to anyone caught in its arc due to the strength behind it.
Wyverns
Affiliated with the sky, individuals born of Wyvern descent match the average build of humans, but often exceed even their upper ranks of height. These folk are the only ones of the three that have wings, which can be folded or even concealed with magic. While it is possible to remove these wings-- with the process being distinctly painful-- they are able to regrow them if given enough time, with the speed of the process depending on age. The horns are their most average part, with the tails of these folk not only being the shortest, but also lacking girth compared to their counterparts. As a result, their tails hurt the least, but even still they are not to be underestimated in the pain they can dish out. Many use their tail as a balance when flying at high speeds, so they are very iffy about the condition of said tail.
Wyrms
Accustomed to the sea, any Drakim born of Wyrm descent tend to be on the slimmer side of human builds, and even are shorter than them on top of that. Their horns are small, and they lack wings just like their Drake brethren, but their tails are easily the longest, and hold the most girth. Even a slow swipe is enough to launch anyone unlucky to feel the full force of its momentum, to paint a picture on how much it can hurt. On top of this, they are quite swift, excelling in tasks where agility is vital, and even are excellent swimmers. Suffice to say, their power is not within their body, but their tails.
Aside from these unique traits, they all share basic ones: Draconic pupils, pointed ears derived from their elven heritage, the ability to regrow their tails and horns if severed or broken (albeit at a VERY slow rate) and hair color being dependent on their attunement. This is usually brown, light green, or sea blue in correspondence to which of the three subspecies they are from, but can in theory be any color depending on a number of factors during early growth. This hair color is typically the first sign of which subrace the child is, but this variance makes using it as a reliable indicator iffy at best.
Drakim grow at a similar rate to humans, but puberty marks the point in which their subrace traits begin to manifest, with their completed growth at the age of 18 often being seen as the point of maturity. The body continues to grow up until the age of 21 however, at which point total maturity is achieved. Any growth and/or aging drastically stalls at this point, up to the age of 420, where the body resumes aging as normal, with most Drakim only lasting up to 500 years of age.
- Magic - Due to their combined heritage, the Drakim are incredibly powerful magic users, learning magic fairly easily. The first magic-based ability they usually ever learn is a breath attack that can be comprised of any magic of their choice, making them quite versatile. They may also specialize in specific elements, with these folk typically becoming experts of said element, and in many cases much stronger than all-rounders. While not impossible, a Drakim with little to no magical ability is often seen as a failure or defect, and is thus sentenced to relentless ridicule among their peers.
